A toll can be used to internalize the traffic externality and eliminate the congestion. As a result, it takes too long for people to commute. In the Freeway Game, a traffic externality causes congestion on the freeway. When a decision maker does not account for all the costs or benefits associated with a decision, there exists what economists call an 'externality.' Externalities are commonplace, and can cause significant problems (or create significant benefits) for firms and society. ![]() When deciding whether to get on the freeway during rush hour, did you ever stop to consider that if you did so, you would slow everybody ELSE down? When we ask our students that question, they typically laugh-their only consideration is how long their own trip will take. In the game, traffic congestion is simulated to demonstrate the effect of a negative externality. Understanding this concept is important because when externalities are present, the outcome of free markets may lead to situations that are socially undesirable (e.g., too much pollution or not enough private investment in education and research). Until then this game is worth 5 minutes of playtime before it becomes too obnoxious or irritates your OCD impulses. The Freeway Game was created to help students come to grips with the concept of 'externality'. Allow you to place points and connect with a line some sort of straight line drawing capability. zoom functionality (make it easier to negotiate tight areas). undo functionality and/or an eraser feature That’s okay for the first couple basic things but quickly is too obnoxious. This is made way worse because there is no way to correct mistakes except clear everything on the map and restart. You can’t see exactly where you’re drawing because of your fingers and it’s really hard to draw a straight line with your finger. But I expect even on an iPad it’s a bit tough. The basic problem is It’s extremely difficult to be precise using your fingers on a small screen. However, this game is MADDENING on the iPhone because it is missing key features. ![]() Love the concept of this game and it’s right in my wheelhouse. Otherwise wait for a deal or for an update to reduce the frustration. If it is the game ending, I would LOVE to see more levels in the future. I don’t know if that’s a bug, or just the game ending. Once I finished that ring, the map did not expand anymore. (Note: I expanded the map until I finished the ring of interchanges that shows the ocean in the top left corner. I fully support it any way, but I am perfectly content with it now. ![]() It’s your game and you have every right to make it however you want. If you want to make changes to it in the future, I would love to see it, and I am not opposed to you changing it. Thank you for making one of my favorite games I have ever played, and I like it just the way it is. I think that an undo button is not by any means necessary, because the game makes it so you choose your decisions carefully, instead of just doing whatever you want because you can undo it if you want to. It doesn’t end, and it progressively gets more difficult, instead of just getting boring because of the sameness. The instant I saw it, I knew I was going to like it. Okay, first of all, this is the kind of game I have looked for on the App Store for YEARS.
